Guerilla Marketing in 8 Minutes

Digital Anthropology

I’m putting on an event at my school tomorrow – a Social Media Workshop. I’m going to talk about the value of social media, what it is, how to use it, this and that and the other thing. So far, I’ve plugged the event at various student organizations (through friends I’ve recruited to do it), Facebook up the wazoo, Career Services, and emails to faculty. However, my latest tactic:

1. Log onto school’s online course management system
2. Email every single student in Investments class
3. Repeat for my English class, Spanish Class, and Sociology Class.
4. Outcome: In 8 minutes, I have emailed 200 students. Not bad ROT if you ask me.

Clearly many people do not have access to a student emails like this. Nor are students the most opportune clientele for a lot of businesses. BUT, moral of the story is: you probably have marketing opportunities in unlikely places, or where you’d least expect. Shoot, I’ll even post it on Craigslist.

What are your unconventional marketing tactics?
